Graduation Requirements

  • Graduation Audits

All students should schedule an appointment with the senior class advisor at least two semesters in advance of graduation. The purpose of the appointment is to review your academic progress and ensure all degree requirements will be satisfied for graduation.

In your junior year, you should schedule an appointment with your advisor for an early audit of your academic progress to ensure the requirements of your degree program are satisfied on time. The transcript is reviewed for general education and area of study requirements, in addition to residency requirements. In particular, all students must complete the following:

    1. A minimum 120  total credits toward the degree, with at least 90 credits in liberal arts
    2. A minimum 88 credits in residence at Lang (prorated for transfer students)
    3. 40 credits of 3000 level or above classes (prorated for transfer students)
    4. First Year Writing I and II (or equivalent transfer credit)
    5. All requirements for a declared area of study, including the Senior Experience

    Senior Capstone Requirement

Each student at Eugene Lang College must complete a senior capstone requirement in their area of study. The requirement may be satisfied with an individual project, a collaborative project, or a special seminar course depending on the area of study. There may be a prerequisite course requirement prior to taking the seminar course. Consult with the chair of your academic program when choosing a senior capstone. The chair can also assist you with locating an appropriate seminar option or advisor for your independent project. See the Senior Capstone page for more information.
