Card users are assessed a nonrefundable convenience fee of 2.95 percent of the payment amount at the time of each credit or debit card payment. Effective February 23, 2024, there will be an increase in the PayPath fee for international transactions only, from the current rate of 2.95 percent to 4.25 percent. The nonrefundable convenience fee is assessed by our third-party processor and will be included with your total
payment amount on your credit card statement. However, this convenience fee will not appear on your student account. Two separate transactions
will appear on your credit card statement: one transaction for the student
account payment and one transaction for the convenience fee.
The costs associated with processing credit cards continue to grow each year, and the university wants to continue to offer the option of paying by credit card. Unfortunately, The New School can no longer continue to absorb these costs. The New School has changed the way credit card payments are accepted for student accounts by passing the cost of the credit card convenience fee along to those using the service. The convenience fee charged by the third-party processor, PayPath, covers the cost of processing credit and debit card payments. The university does not receive any part of the convenience fee.
For checking or savings account payments, please use the ACH payment option to avoid having to pay the convenience fee.
