  • Study Abroad
  • As an early leader in the field of international education, The New School continues to expand and improve the quality of its study abroad offerings in an increasingly global world. Studying abroad fosters deeper student and university-wide engagement with global issues and cultures.

    Spring 2021 Study Abroad Update

As the outbreak and spread of the COVID-19 global pandemic evolves, The New School Study Abroad office continues to actively monitor and assess the safety and security of our students participating in study abroad programs. Students are only permitted to participate in study abroad in Spring 2021 with a New School approved and vetted partner study abroad program provider, including The New School’s current study abroad exchange partners and institutional affiliated third party program provider organizations. All currently approved and vetted programs can be viewed in The New School’s GoAbroad program listing directory

Please note, The New School may at any time suspend or revoke a study abroad authorization, at its discretion, to promote and ensure the safety and well-being of a student, students, or other members of The New School community. All students who study abroad also do so with the understanding that international and national governments as well as the program provider may at any time take action to modify, suspend, or cancel a study abroad program. For more information on Spring 2021 study abroad policies and COVID-19 FAQs, please see: COVID-19 Study Abroad Information and FAQs.

    Why Go Abroad?

Students who study abroad learn to look at the world in new ways; cultivate an understanding of and appreciation for other cultures; become more independent, mature, and self-aware; and acquire or improve their foreign language skills. Many discover that the skills they develop benefit their professional careers and enrich their lives.

A wide variety of study abroad programs are available to you as a New School student, depending on your major. By studying abroad, you embark on a life-changing journey, embracing the unfamiliar, gaining new perspectives on the world, and developing greater cultural sensitivity.
