Recent Updates: Visit our COVID-19 Community Guide for information about in-person teaching and learning this fall.

  • New School students live and study in the center of one of the world's most celebrated cities. See it for yourself by exploring our New York City campus or by joining one of our many online events and information sessions.

    The Welcome Center

    The Welcome Center

Our Welcome Center building is located at 72 Fifth Avenue, on the corner of 13th Street. The building will reopen to external visitors on Tuesday, September 7.

Throughout the fall semester, our in-person offerings will be limited to pre-scheduled admission counseling appointments and campus tours accommodating up to three families. Only those with appointments will be able to tour campus or meet with admission staff. Those without appointments will not be able to enter the Welcome Center. All visitors must provide proof of vaccination and a negative PCR test and wear a mask in all university buildings and indoor spaces for the duration of their visit.

Anyone interested in learning more about our academic programs, admission requirements, or campus life is invited to connect online with a Welcome Center student assistant through our Welcome Center Virtual Desk. Virtual desk hours are Mondays through Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. EST (except for major holidays, when the university is closed). No appointment is necessary.

    Virtual Campus Tour

IMG - Visit - Virtual Tour

Take our virtual campus tour to discover spaces that aren't available on an in-person campus tour, such as classrooms, residence halls, making facilities, performance venues, and more. Even better, it's available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, in seven languages.

    In-Person Tours

    Plan a Campus Visit

Due to ongoing concerns about COVID-19, we are offering only a limited number of pre-scheduled single-family student-led campus tours this fall. Only those with appointments will be able to tour campus.

Although we wish we could welcome everyone who would like to tour our campus, doing so at this time is not feasible. Single-family tours are currently available on a first-come, first-served basis through October 29. Beginning November 1, tour capacity will expand to allow for up to three families to tour together. If you are unable to schedule an in-person tour, we encourage you to take our virtual tour and connect with us through one of our many additional online events.

    Update October 19, 2021:

Mandatory Health and Safety Requirements for All In-Person Visitors
Upon checking in for an in-person event and in accordance with NYC access rules:

    • All visitors must be fully vaccinated and present to the Welcome Center staff proof of a negative PCR test. Proof of vaccination (e.g., CDC card — hard copy or picture or Excelsior Pass) — with a vaccine authorized by the U.S. FDA or for emergency use by the World Health Organization — and a negative PCR test result no older than seven days from the date of all on-campus events are required for access to campus facilities.
    • All external guests will be required to attest that they are currently experiencing no symptoms and are not actively in quarantine or isolation due to a positive test result, exposure, or recent travel.
    • All external guests must wear a mask in all university buildings and indoor spaces for the duration of their visit.

  • Admission Appointments

Online and limited in-person appointments are available for prospective applicants and family members who would like to meet individually with an admission counselor to identify best-fit programs and discuss the admission process.

Due to ongoing concerns about COVID-19, we are offering a limited number of pre-scheduled in-person admission appointments this fall. Only one prospective student and their family will be able to register for each available 30-minute in-person appointment.
