• Student Equity and Access
  • The Office of Student Advocacy’s mission is to provide essential services and programs that promote excellence in students’ learning, academic achievement, and personal growth. Through a focus on student conduct, veterans’ services, and disability services, the Office of Student Advocacy also examines issues of equity and access that affect students’ lives in order to engage with campus community members in complex problem solving to shape an environment that supports all of its members. In addition, the mission of the office is to ensure that the university community understands and complies with state and federal laws with respect to student diversity and access and to facilitate equitable opportunities to enhance success. In fulfilling this mission, the office has three major responsibilities: overseeing compliance, ensuring equity of services, and promoting diversity.

    Goals of the Office

    • Support students to ensure that they are afforded equal access to academic and extracurricular spaces to facilitate the successful completion of their educational experience
    • Strengthen relationships between students, faculty, staff, and community members to support civic awareness
    • Increase awareness of and education on the purpose of the office and the resources it provides
    • Develop an open, engaging and welcoming community that respects differences and supports diversity, equity, inclusion, and multiculturalism
    • Resolve conflict and provide resources to the university community so that members can freely pursue intellectual activities and civic engagement
