For my final project, the brief was to design a hotel lobby and guestroom. My response was The Hotel Louise, a nine-room boutique hotel located in the historic town of Lake Louise, in the heart of the Canadian Rockies. There guests can find some of the finest hiking and skiing and most memorable wildlife in the world against a backdrop of untouched wilderness and stunning landscapes.
Providing an intimate home-away-from-home experience, my hotel offers luxury and customization, catering to adult guests seeking a deeper level of relaxation amid Lake Louise’s natural beauty. I designed the hotel with a maximum occupancy of 18 guests to ensure that the staff-to-guest ratio allows for highly personalized service.
Architecture and design serve as the basis for the entire experience. From the moment guests step through the door, they are enveloped in an atmosphere of warmth, elegance, and timeless charm. The lounge, centered around a crackling fireplace, beckons to travelers, encouraging them to unwind as they are checked in with informal ease. The intimate atmosphere sets the tone for a stay defined by relaxation, one in which every moment is crafted to ensure guests feel rejuvenated and at home. Wood paneling and warm lighting adorn the hallways, providing a unifying element from which the unique character of every space emerges, welcoming guests to journey effortlessly from one captivating experience to the next.
I designed each suite to cocoon guests in comfort and serve as a haven in which to retire after an exhilarating day spent on the slopes or hiking around the lake. Guests can choose one of six junior suites, with balcony views of the picturesque town, or opt for one of three spacious and elegant mountain suites, with open-plan layouts including a roaring fireplace and balconies offering views of the majestic mountains. In either case, an oasis of serenity awaits.
