Tiago Valente is a Creative Director, Designer and Artist.
With more than twenty years of experience as Creative Director and Designer, he has worked all over the world with a broad clientele such as Missoni, Zara, Lane Crawford, Google and Unilever, amongst others. In his Art practice, his work has been recently presented at The Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao.
Besides his teaching role as Assistant Professor of Fashion Design at The School of Fashion, he is also the Associate Director of Parsons MPS Fashion Management - Partnerships & Culture, while also serving as the BFA Materiality Pathway Leader.
In his teaching and research he follows an experiential, interdisciplinary and holistic approach to pedagogy, with a focus on Innovation and geared towards Diversity, Equity and Social Justice initiatives.
Tiago began teaching Experience and Storytelling through Embellishment at the MFA Textiles at Parsons in 2018. He created his own course within the program with world renowned trend forecaster and founder of the program,Li Edelkoort and Preethi Gopinath, Director of the program. Since then his journey in the university has expanded to include teaching for The School of Design Strategies, the course (un)Fashion at the Integrated Design program, Visual Communication and Design Studio for the BFA Fashion Design, as well as designing curriculum and facilitating Luxury Experiential Design and Innovation courses and workshops at N Ventures - External Partnerships for The New School.
He has been invited to talk about his holistic approach and creative journey at Harvard University, Rhode Island School of Design, Istituto Europeo di Design and Istituto Marangoni.
Most recently he has been nominated to The Parsons Distinguished Teaching Award 2022.
