John has been teaching synchronously and asynchronously for ten years. Also a visiting professor at Pratt Institute, The New York Institute of Technology, St John's University and CUNY, NYC College of Technology. At Pratt he developed an interneship portfolio development workshop series enabling student to develop plan of action for portfolio development and prep for internship or career path interviews. At Pratt with development of a public facing course initiative call Pratt Ink Studio, he added areal word client experience within a course environment having students develop work for actual clients. His courses incorporate effective creation and presentation of design/communications solutions, typography, graphic design, communication design and history of graphic design, as well as the practical approach to presenting themselves and their work.
A certified online instructor the New School, he has designed and delivered courses including, Design History, Graphic Design II, Summer Intensive Design/Illustration.
His course development collaborating with the Immersive Learning Innovation Department incorporated virtual reality, immersive workplace, social environments. His online Design History was used as a Canvas LMS benchmark in New School faculty training in online course creation.
Teaching objectives: integrate multidisciplinary design studies and principles with interpersonal skills developing multifaceted designers.
Professional experience: More than 20 years as a creative lead, graphic designer educator, illustrator based in New York City.
Was founder, VP and creative director of Webb Communications, a full service new media design and marketing firm based in New York;
Publisher and illustrator for Rovere Publishing, specialized in educational posters. These imprints found in museums and national parks throughout the country, including: the Newseum, Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library, Newseum, Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Gettysburg Civil War Museum, Philadelphia Independence Hall, Ford’s Theater.
While as an Art Director at the United Nations, New York, designed various creative and marketing campaigns for UN initiatives globally. Worked with artists from around the world to design United Nations postage stamps.
