    Glenn Shrum

    Profile

    Spanning the fields of design and art practice, Glenn Shrum’s work with light places him at the center of converging professional disciplines.  Originally trained as an architect, Shrum received a Master of Fine Arts in Studio Art with an emphasis on light-space installations and light art history from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2008.  In addition to his professional activity as principal/founder at Flux Studio Ltd, Glenn Shrum is Associate Professor of Lighting Design and Interdisciplinary Practice and former director in the Master of Fine Arts Lighting Design program at Parsons School of Design.   His activity in the international lighting design community includes a position at the US coordinator of the Professional Lighting Designers' Association from 2009 to 2011 invited lectures in Turkey, Spain, France, Colombia, Mexico, Italy, Sweden, Denmark, Canada, and throughout the USA.  Current Flux Studio projects include National Museum of Woment in the Arts (USA), National Aquarium in Baltimore (USA), National Gallery of Art (USA), National Cryptological Museum (USA), and numerous light art commissions.
