    Profile

     

    Gilda Pervin received degrees from The University of Pittsburgh and The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia. After graduation she moved from Pennsylvania to Texas where she made art,  taught and exhibited for seven years.  During that time she helped create "500 Exposition Gallery" where artists could live, work and exhibit art that reflected their personal visions. When she moved to New York in 1981 she continued her studio work, teaching and exhibiting.  She soon began teaching painting, drawing and sculpture at The New School, Department of Fine Arts, and now teaches painting and drawing at Parsons.  Her teaching experience includes teaching at The Creative Center, University Settlement, NY; The International Rescue Commitee, NY; Pratt Manhattan Center, NY; New Jersey School of the Arts, Montclair, NJ; Dallas County Community College, Dallas, TX; Drexel University, Philadelphia, PA; and The University of Pittsburgh.
