    Carol Fonde

    Carol Fonde spent her childhood on the north shore of Long Island where, by the age of seven, she was photographing the land and seascape with a Brownie camera. Carol received her BFA in Photography from the Rochester Institute of Technology. She was awarded the Ford Foundation Fellowship For Visual Artists to attend Indiana University where received her MFA in Fine Art Photography developed  the undergraduate photography program. Widely reputed for her unique eye in Color, Carol is established as an esteemed master color printer, teacher and fine art photographer in NYC. She currently works in Portland, Maine and New York City, and is  internationally recognized for her expertise in the field of archival color reproduction. She prints for many celebrated editorial, fashion, and fine-art photographers including Hiro, Christian Witkin, Bruce Davidson, Annie Leibovitz, Gilles Peress, Steven Klein, Joel Grey, Mary Ellen Mark and William Eggleston. She was the personal color printer for Richard Avedon and Francesco Scavullo. Carol has taught at the Cooper Union School of Art, the International Center of Photography, the School of Visual Arts, and the Maine Media Workshops and is currently teaching Fine Art Digital Imaging  at Parsons the New School for Design. Her personal fine art work in sea and landscape has been exhibited in numerous galleries and museums, including the Heckscher Museum, Edward Carter Gallery, the Neuberger Museum, Westwood Gallery, the Woodstock Center Of Photography, and Sotheby’s. Her photographs have been exhibited and sold through Ralph Lauren showrooms worldwide.Because Carol’s work reflects a strong reverence for the natural world her photographs are often used to support the Nature Conservancy. She is represented by Elizabeth Moss Gallery in Falmouth, Maine and June Bateman Fine Art in New York City.
