Recent Updates: Campus is open. Spring semester begins January 24 with remote instruction. In-person instruction will resume on February 7. Visit our COVID-19 Community Guide for more information.

  • The New School's summer housing is open to current students who are taking summer classes or want to spend the summer in NYC, students from other colleges who are completing internships in the city, and groups and special summer programs. To comply with social distancing guidelines, each person will be assigned a single bedroom within a multi-bedroom suite.

More information about our offerings appears in the sections below.

    Current New School Students

If you are enrolled in a New School degree program in the current spring semester, you have the option to remain in university  housing for the summer months. Summer housing is perfect for those who plan to take classes, have an internship, or just want to stay in New York City. For currently enrolled New School students, summer 2021 housing begins on Sunday, May 16, and ends on Saturday, August 7. Only 12-week contracts are available.

The 2021 Summer New School Student Housing Application is now open. Apply here.

  • Summer Internship Housing

New School housing offers a safe and convenient home base in New York City for all summer interns and college students, whether they are affiliated with The New School or with other colleges and universities.

We are pleased to announce that our brand-new 301 Residence Hall will be available for internship housing for summer 2022. The residence is located in the vibrant Stuyvesant Park neighborhood, in the heart of the Lower East Side.

Interns will also be able to select rooms at Loeb Hall. Loeb is a short walk from Union Square, a summer evening hangout for young people from all over the city and the venue for the Union Square Greenmarket.

All housing accommodations are suite style and have shared kitchens and bathrooms. Interns will be able to select single and double bedrooms based on availability.

Because of the structure of our suites, rooms for married couples are not available. Single rooms are limited in number and are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Interns may request preferred roommates and suite mates, regardless of gender. While we do our best to accommodate preferences, it is not guaranteed.

Please note: Non-New School students living on campus next summer may be required to follow certain COVID-19 policies. Please continue to monitor our site for further information.

  • Conference and Group Housing

The New School may be able to house your conference event, special event or group this summer. Due to social distancing and current health guidance, please email us at to inquire about availability, pricing, and options. Non-New School students living on campus this summer are required to follow the university's COVID-19 testing and screening protocols.
