    Maya Ciarrocchi

    Profile

    Maya Ciarrocchi is a New York City based interdisciplinary artist working in installation, video, performance and social practice. In these projects she uses storytelling and embodied mapmaking to uncover histories which have been hidden or lost. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and she has received residencies from the Baryshnikov Arts Center, the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, MacDowell Colony, Millay Colony and UCross. Ciarrocchi was a 2017 Bronx Museum of the Arts Artist in the Marketplace and received a Foundation for Contemporary Arts Emergency Grant and a Film/Video Grant from the Jerome Foundation as well as grants from the MAP Fund and the Franklin Furnace Fund. In addition to her individual practice, Ciarrocchi is a TONY, Bessie and Jeff Award winning projection designer for dance and theater. Recently she participated in the 2019 Moving Towards Justice Cohort at Gibney and the Laboratory for Jewish Culture and is the recipient of the inaugural New York Artists Equity b[x] Fellowship. Ciarrocchi earned an MFA from the School of Visual Arts, and a BFA from SUNY Purchase.
