    Farrah Qidwai

    Profile

    R. Farrah Qidwai is a part time Assistant Professor of Film Studies at The New School for Public Engagement.  She has been a member of The New School community since 2001 and has taught Film studies since 2012.  She is a former Fulbright scholar who conducted research on filmic representations of the Muslim female body in 1970s Hindi Cinema and teaches a course at The New School that touches upon this topic.

    She currently teaches "The Art of Film" and "Gender, Sexuality and Nationhood in Popular Indian Cinema" every year at The New School. 

    She has also taught the following courses for the NSPE:  "The Films of Mira Nair", "The Films of Ang Lee", "The Films of Spike Lee", "The Films of Alfred Hitchcock", "The Films of Akira Kurosawa", "The Films of Satyajit Ray", "The Films of John Waters", "The Films of Gus Van Sant", "The Films of Pedro Almodovar", "The Films of Wes Anderson", "The Films of Quentin Tarantino" and "The Films of Martin Scorsese".

    She currently teaches Asian American Studies at Hunter College and is working on a novel.
