    Alhena Katsof

    Profile

    Alhena Katsof is a curator and writer. Her collaborative projects include Telepathic Improvisation (2017), Pauline Boudry / Renate Lorenz's first traveling solo exhibition and film commission in the United States and Towards the Unknown (2014), a traveling exhibition of drawings, scores, and graphic notations by Yusef Lateef. Katsof served as Volkswagen Fellow at MoMA PS1 where she worked with the design and research studio Metahaven (2012). Prior to this, she was Museum As Hub Fellow at the New Museum (2011). From 2011 to 2018, Katsof was the Director of Strategy and Protocol for Public Movement. The performances she created with Dana Yahalomi (Director, Public Movement) have been staged at institutions including the Santarcangelo Festival (2019), Göteborg International Biennial for Contemporary Art (2017) and Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum (2016). Katsof and Yahalomi co-authored the book Solution 263: Double Agent (Sternberg Press, 2015). Additionally, Katsof has written about artists including Polly Apfelbaum, Andrea Geyer, and Gordon Hall. Her essays have been published in numerous volumes including The Artist As Curator: An Anthology (Mousse Publishing, 2017),  How Institutions Think: Between Contemporary Art and Curatorial Discourse (MIT Press, 2017), and As Radical, As Mother, As Salad, As Shelter: What Should Art Institutions Do Now? (Paper Monument, 2018).
