If you take a leave of absence before the semester waiver deadline, you
will receive a full refund for the insurance premium, which also
automatically removes you from the insurance plan and coverage, as long
as you have not used the plan that semester. If you have already used
the plan that semester (that is, if you or a doctor, lab, or other
service provider has submitted a claim on your behalf to
UnitedHealthcare), the insurance premium will be added back to your
student account and you will be re-enrolled in the Student
Health Insurance Plan for the remainder of the semester.
If you
are taking a leave for documented health reasons, you will need to
contact Student Health Services at [email protected] for instructions for paying the
insurance premium so that we can reinstate your coverage for the period
you will be on leave. You may opt to remain enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan for a maximum of two consecutive semesters. This includes your dependents as well if they were already enrolled in the plan.
Students on leave (including leave for health reasons) do not have access to Student Health Services.
Students
taking a leave of absence for any reason other than health are not
eligible to reinstate health insurance coverage while on leave after the
waiver deadline.
