ESL+ certificates are intensive pre-enrollment programs for international and multilingual students who need to improve their English language skills in order to succeed in their academic and professional careers at The New School and beyond.

The center oversees a sequenced curriculum of English language courses for international and multilingual students at Parsons (undergraduate and graduate) who demonstrate the need for continued language development.

This highly regarded program awards a Certificate in Teaching English (CTE) for successful completion of a structured curriculum of five courses, including a minimum of 50 hours of student teaching. Designed for both aspiring and working teachers, courses in this fully online certificate program emphasize communicative, student-centered, culturally sensitive learning. The program equips students with skills that are readily applicable to online and in-person classroom teaching and tutoring in the United States and abroad.

The University Learning Center offers free one-on-one specialized ESL tutoring in many skill areas, including writing, speech, grammar, and more. Visit the center’s website for more information or to book your first individual tutoring session.

The center offers a free eight-session pronunciation workshop every semester. The workshop is open to all New School students, faculty, and staff.
