  • Student discussion in classroom
    Project

Memory studies, which in the last few decades began to thrive within different academic disciplines, has become particularly vital at a time when seemingly stable social, cultural, and political structures and realities are being dismantled and reconfigured.

Based at The New School for Social Research under the auspices of the Transregional Center for Democratic Studies, the Memory Studies Network brings together leading scholars in the field and graduate students from different parts of the university—social science, arts and design, and humanities—creating a special space for interdisciplinary discussion, scholarly innovation, and international exchanges of ideas, thus advancing discourse in the field.

The group is open to both resident (NSSR-based) and non-resident members and is linked to affiliated study groups abroad led by alumni of The New School. Its activities include monthly work-in-progress seminars, art events, guest talks, and annual conferences.
