Lab
Evolving social norms, demographic changes, political and racial unrest, and health and climate disasters require a reimagining of how we care for each other within families, communities, and organizations. The care crisis shows up on many levels: the dismantling of social safety nets, the crisis of mental health among youth and young adults, loneliness and isolation, bridging divides, supporting an aging society and addressing health inequality.
Care encompasses the individual and collective practices that sustain the well-being of people, communities, and ecosystems. It shapes how we relate to one another, how institutions function, how policies are formed, how cities are built, and how economic and social systems are designed.
Parsons CareLab is a multi-disciplinary lab involving students, faculty and external partners integrating strategic and community-engaged design, policy analysis, organizational change and social practice art to develop strategies to address the crisis of care in society.
