    Philosophy Student Handbook

  • Admission

  • The Department of Philosophy at NSSR is one of few in the United States that encourages the study of the relationship between psychoanalysis and philosophy, especially in continential philosophical thought. To that end, Philosophy MA students have the unique opportunity to complete a concentration in Psychoanalytic Studies.

Students choose this concentration for several reasons, including to complement current research and to prepare for future training or a career in psychoanalysis. Those interested in the field are encouraged to take advantage of activities and opportunities offered by the Department of Psychology's Sándor Ferenczi Center and by the Das Unbehagen psychoanalytic association, which organizes regular events across New York City.
