Exchange and Overseas Study Programs
Fall 2024 applications are open. Students coming under an exchange agreement should submit the Exchange Student Application.
The exchange programs at The New School for Social Research (NSSR) enable students from partner institutions to study at the school for one year and enable NSSR students to study overseas for one or two semesters
or for summer language study. NSSR currently has exchange programs with the following universities:
- L'École des hautes études en sciences sociales, Paris, France (all departments)
- Humboldt University, Berlin, Germany (all departments)
- Frankfurt University, Frankfurt, Germany (Economics, Philosophy, Politics)
- Bremen University, Bremen, Germany (summer German language course, all departments)
- Technical University of Dresden, Dresden, Germany (all departments)
Tuition discounts are available for these programs.
Advanced doctoral students with demonstrated teaching experience may from time to time be invited to teach at one of the exchange universities while conducting dissertation research.
In addition, NSSR students frequently travel overseas for summer language programs and field research and during the year for research and study at other universities. NSSR students are eligible to apply to the summer Democracy and Diversity Graduate institute in Wrocław, Poland, coordinated by the Transregional Center for Democratic Studies.
