• 1. Review Financial Aid and Merit Scholarship Information

    Merit Scholarships

All admitted students are automatically considered for merit scholarship awards, which are determined by the strength of their admission applications. Admitted students will be notified of any awarded merit-scholarship in their financial aid package about a week after receiving their offer of admission. The Bachelor's Program for Adults and Transfer Students also has several competitive scholarships, which are awarded annually on the basis of financial need and merit and require a separate application.

    Need-Based Financial Aid

    Federal Student Aid
If you are a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in order to be considered for need-based financial aid. The FAFSA is available each year on October 1. The New School's federal school code is 002780. You do not need to wait for an admission decision to apply for federal aid. We encourage you to submit your FAFSA by our FAFSA Priority Deadlines in the section below.

    International Student Aid
In addition to consideration for merit-based scholarship, international students may also apply for need-based scholarship through the International Student Scholarship Application.

    3. Before You Begin

    Applicant Profile

The Bachelor's Program for Adults and Transfer Students welcomes applications from individuals of all ages and experiences. Our applicants are ready to take charge of their education, and complete a bachelor's degree in a stimulating, nontraditional academic environment. This undergraduate program is designed for adult students who have taken some time off from school between high school and college completion. Students may pursue their bachelor's degree part-time or full-time, on-campus, or online. While many students in the program have some prior college experience, it is not a prerequisite for admission. All applicants must have a high school diploma or qualified GED, TASC, or HiSET.

Applicants seeking non-degree coursework must contact the Office of Admission for instructions on completing the application.

    Managing Your Application

Applicants are required to apply online using The New School's Online Application. Save your work frequently and print a copy for your records. You must complete all required fields and upload materials prior to submission.

    Additional Supporting Documents

Any additional supporting documents that need to be sent by mail must include an Application Materials Cover Sheet. All supporting materials must be received before your application can be reviewed.

    Application Fees

Application fees are $50 for U.S. domestic applicants, and $75 for international applicants. Application fees are paid through the online application and are non-refundable. The New School waives application fees for those who meet the eligibility guidelines listed in the Application Fee Waivers section of our How to Apply information.
