Rafael is a multiple Emmy Award winner editor, that brings a wealth of post-production experience and creative vision to every film project. Rafael began his professional career over two decades ago in the New York film/television production and post-production industry. He has worked on all film and video genres, including fiction, documentary, news and commercials.
Rafael has a Philosophy and Literature degree from Universidad de los Andes, Bogotá, Colombia, and a Film Production degree from Hunter College (City University of New York). He has worked for several years as a television editor for Sesame Workshop, editing both, the outstanding pre-school children’s show Sesame Street and its international Spanish version Plaza Sésamo. He has twice been honored with an Emmy Award from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, for best multiple camera editing in two consecutive years, 2010 and 2011, for his work at Sesame Street. He has been teaching at The School of Media Studies for over twenty years. Rafael teaches courses in Digital Filmmaking, Digital Video Editing, Aesthetics of Editing, Advance Post-Production, Documentary Editing, and Editing Art & Practice.
Rafael is the founder, CEO of Timeline Film & Video, Inc., a video production and post-production company that produces compelling media content for today’s multi-platform digital distribution outlets. Under his supervision, the company has produced media for a variety of audiences including international clients, domestic news outlets, art and educational institutions, and independent filmmakers.
