ISSS recommends that F-1 and J-1 international students and scholars traveling outside the United States during the winter holiday break return to the United States before the presidential inauguration day of January 20, 2025.
There are currently no confirmed changes to policies that would directly affect students’ and scholars’ immigration status or international travel. However, given that the Trump administration enacted travel bans in 2017 and 2021, during the first administration, it might enact new policies on its first day, January 20. ISSS is issuing this advisory out of caution, with the aim of preventing disruption to students’ and scholars’ academic plans.
