• Below you’ll find a checklist of required application materials for our Master of Fine Arts program in Contemporary Theatre and Performance.

    The MFA Contemporary Theatre and Performance admissions process consists of two rounds. All applicants will be considered in the first round for an invitation to participate in the second round. For this reason, we strongly encourage all applicants to apply by or before the deadline listed below.

    Deadlines

    First Round Application and Portfolio
    December 1

    FAFSA (U.S. Citizens and Eligible Non-Citizens)
    Fall Applicants: February 1

    Second Round Portfolio Conferences
    By appointment. January dates TBD.

    Those who apply by the December 1st priority deadline will be considered for a second-round invitation before the winter holiday. First-round applications and portfolios received after December 1 will be considered for the second round on a rolling basis. Applicants not invited to participate in the second round will be notified that their application is no longer being considered for admission.

    Prior Degree Completion

    Graduate degree applicants must hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university or the equivalent degree from a foreign college or university. Applicants in the process of completing the bachelor's degree may apply for admission. Admission to the program requires completion of the bachelor's degree.

    Applicant Profile

    We invite artists from a wide range of theatrical disciplines to apply. Artists includes but is not limited to actors, directors, dramatic writers, performance artists, and artists who work with technology and in multimedia formats. Applicants’ expertise may be focused in a single discipline, but competitive applicants will demonstrate the capacity for interdisciplinary work.

Undergraduate Adult Learners

To apply to any of our Bachelor's Program for Adults and Transfer Students and Parsons Associate of Applied Science programs, complete and submit the New School Online Application.

Graduates
