Mannes Prep offers thorough pre-professional training in a warm and supportive atmosphere. Our continuing interest in the musical growth of each student is central to the spirit of Mannes.
Mannes Prep welcomes students ages 4 to 18 (pre-K through high school), from beginners through advanced students aspiring to professional careers. Each student's curriculum is tailored to include age- and level-appropriate
class and ensemble assignments. Under the direction of a faculty dedicated to creating a supportive community, students learn to encourage one another to reach their full potential.
Our course of study, designed as a full school year (fall and spring terms), includes theory and ear training classes based on Mannes School of Music’s signature approach to foundational skill development through its Techniques of Music department and performance opportunities in large and small ensembles, workshops, recitals, and visiting artist master classes.
Students also have the opportunity to take private lessons with our distinguished faculty and pursue exciting electives on subjects including chamber music, composition, film scoring, electronic music, conducting, music history, world music, jazz ensemble, and more.
Mannes Prep’s approach to music reflects the curriculum of its celebrated home—Mannes School of Music at The New School, with more than 100 years of developing talent and supporting innovation.
