The College of Performing Arts and The New School are proud to host The Stone, an artist-centric home and community for experimental and avant-garde artists. New York Choral Society

Mannes Orchestra music director David Hayes has cultivated a vital partnership between the Mannes Orchestra and the renowned New York Choral Society, which he also directs. The apprenticeship culminates with a public performance.

    Montclair Orchestra

Many Mannes musicians have benefitted from the Montclair Orchestra’s fellowship program. Founded by Montclair music director David Chan, who is also Metropolitan Opera Orchestra concertmaster and a Mannes faculty member, the program provides students the opportunity to perform alongside professionals from the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra of St Luke's, and other top orchestras.

Marin Alsop and Alsop Family Foundation

Baltimore Symphony Orchestra music director Marin Alsop and the Alsop Family Foundation have generously funded the Alsop Entrepreneurship Award, a prize awarded each year to Mannes students for innovative interdisciplinary projects, with the aim of promoting audience outreach in 21st century classical music.

    Orchestra of St. Luke's

Mannes musicians have often participated in the Orchestra of St. Luke’s Chambership Mentorship Program, benefitting from professional development workshops as well as chamber music coachings led by Orchestra of St. Luke’s musicians, which culminate in the Young Artist Series presented at The DiMenna Center and other New York City venues.

    Frick Collection First Fridays

Mannes chamber ensembles and soloists regularly perform at the Frick Collection as part of the museum’s First Fridays program, featuring free gallery access and lectures by museum educators and curators, as well as musical and dance performances.

    Unique One-time Partner Events

In addition to Mannes’s established ongoing creative partnerships, students also benefit continually from singular opportunities arising from the school’s profound connectedness to countless New York artists and organizations. Below are just a few examples.

Mannes musicians participated in a conductorless orchestra led by the innovative string ensemble PUBLIQuartet, in a performance of works by living composers at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Todd Reynolds and Bang on a Can

Mannes musicians performed John Cage’s Atlas Eclipticalis under the direction of ground-breaking violinist, composer and technologist Todd Reynolds at New York’s Museum of Modern Art, as part of Bang on a Can: Music Among Friends @ MOMA.
