Audrey Axinn teaches piano and collaborative piano at Mannes as well as courses in performance practice, fortepiano, and chamber music. Dr. Axinn teaches at The Juilliard School coaching chamber music and teaching courses in performance practice and the pedagogy of studio instruction. She is also on the faculty of Manhattan School of Music and teaches remotely at The Tianjin Juilliard School.
Dr. Axinn has performed widely as a soloist and is known particularly for her exciting ornamentation of Mozart, Haydn and Beethoven’s works. She toured Asia extensively as a member of the Tianjin Juilliard Ensemble. A few of the venues where she has performed in New York City include The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Weill Recital Hall and Bargemusic. A passionate chamber musician, she has partnered exceptional performers including Jaime Laredo, Sharon Robinson, Eugene Fodor, Daniel Heifetz, Fred Sherry, and Bonnie Hampton.
She has given master classes at The Juilliard School, The New England Conservatory, Oberlin Conservatory, Beijing Central Conservatory, China Conservatory, Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, many universities in Taiwan, The Royal Conservatory in the Hague, and Kyung-Won University in South Korea. Dr. Axinn is a co-director and faculty member of the Academy of Fortepiano Performance, an intensive summer workshop exploring classical and romantic repertoire on historical keyboards. She holds a Master’s degree and a Doctorate of Musical Arts degree from The Juilliard School, as well as degrees from The Curtis Institute of Music and Manhattan School of Music.
Dr. Axinn served as Associate Dean and faculty at the Tianjin Juilliard School from 2018 to 2021 and as Assistant Dean at Mannes College of Music from 2008 to 2015.
