Profile
Phil Rashkin is a conductor, pianist, oboist, and composer based in New York City. He is the music director of Opera Upper West, the assistant conductor of the Manhattan Symphonie, and oboist with the Downtown Music at Grace chamber series with members of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra.
He conducts the Wind Ensemble at the Special Music High School and teaches at Mannes Prep Pre-College at The New School, The Horace Mann School, and Manhattan School of Music Summer.
While a student at Mannes College The New School for Music, he received the Marin Alsop Entrpreneurial Award with ensemble A Closer Look. He appeared in the television series Mozart in the Jungle and toured with Josh Groban for the release of his album Stages.
Phil Rashkin’s musicianship has been described as "particularly ravishing" (The Observer) and "choice, tersely delivered moments from Phil Rashkin" (Lucid Culture).
