University Closed Tuesday, February 13 2024 Due to Anticipated Severe Weather
Due to anticipated severe weather conditions, The New School’s NYC campus will be closed Tuesday, February 13, 2024. All classes, activities, and meetings have been canceled. All administrative offices will be closed, however any function that has been designated as essential to the continued and safe operation of the campus will be required to report to work as normal. Residence Halls will remain open for students.
The public areas of the University Center will be open tomorrow from 7:30am until 12:00am for those seeking shelter from the storm. Dining services will operate on a modified schedule starting at 9:00am, but all classrooms, labs, workshops, libraries, and Student Health Services (SHS) will be closed. All other campus venues will be closed during this period.
The New School follows the lead of the NYC Department of Education. If NYC public schools are closed or shift to remote learning in response to inclement weather, The New School will close campus.
Because campus is closed and all activities have been canceled, faculty are not expected to deliver courses online. Faculty should use their discretion in adapting coursework through the use of alternate or asynchronous assignments or use the university-scheduled make-up days as needed. For specific questions on course adaptations, please contact your program leadership or dean’s office.
Please be safe and, if possible, stay indoors. We anticipate returning to regular hours on Wednesday, February 14, but please check for updates via New School alerts and our Twitter account @TheNewSchool.
