    • Students in the Department of Psychology collaborate with leading scholars and other graduate students in conducting research that is sensitive to historical issues and relevant to contemporary questions while also contributing to basic psychological theory.

      Recently Clinical Psychology students have researched topics such as:

      • Delay of gratification in at-risk preschool children
      • The role of negative attitudes toward and emotions about menstruation
      • Shame in the treatment of problematic alcohol use
      • Neuropsychology and mindfulness
      • Taoist cognitive therapy
      • Conflicts regarding food and the body in mother-daughter relationships
      • Embodied dissociation in childhood trauma survivors
      • The role of language in emotion regulation

      Recently Cognitive, Social, and Developmental Psychology students have researched topics such as:

      • How the self-view window affects disclosure and gaze in video-mediated interviews
      • Paralinguistic indicators of social desirability in mobile survey responses
      • The role of cognitive accessibility in social comparisons
      • Why people believe in economic mobility
      • Sacred and moral dimensions of human conflict
      • Culture and the development of views of agency
      • How religious belief influences cooperation between religious groups
      • Cultural influences on the development of emotion, knowledge, and perceptions of mental state access
