    Adrienne Brown

    Profile

Adrienne is an architect, educator, and writer in New York City. She founded her firm, AKB Architecture Works, in 2015 in Chicago, and subsequently moved the practice to New York in 2019. AKB Architecture Works focuses on design, preservation, and development work. Current work includes renovations to townhouses and apartments in both New York City and Chicago.
Adrienne believes that the most successful designs are those held accountable to history, theory, and the built environment. Working with the vernacular, she critically dissects buildings: manipulating, preserving, and re-using materials and spaces. Adrienne champions the idea that buildings and cities are in a constant evolution, much like their inhabitants, constantly adapting and seeking new modes for survival.
"Designing a dream city is easy; rebuilding a living one takes imagination." -Jane Jacobs.
