    Luciana Scrutchen

    Profile

    Luciana's areas of scholarship lay within, fashion digital technology, surface and textile design, sustainable materials' practices and processes, as well as distributed learning. She is passionate about creating new learning spaces that educate and support cross-disciplinary student experiences. As a result being involved in the resurgence of textile making practices at Parsons, and cross-disciplinary collaboration with colleagues at Lang to develop curriculum that converge science, textile and fashion.

    Her dedication to the New School community is evidenced by her participation on various school and divisional committees including Parsons Faculty Council, and at present, the University Faculty Senate. She has held leadership roles as, Director, Fashion Design, and Coordinator, Digital Fashion in the Associate in Applied Science Program. 

    Her current research explores Alaska’s intersections of subsistence and textile development as it relates to fashion and ecological systems. Her works-in-progress publication, Textile Design Approaches with Kaledo; fosters practice that enables designers to see concepts culminate into products. Her expertise as a textile designer and digital fashion trainer includes clients, such as Calvin Klein, Victoria's Secret, and Talbots.
