    Ned Rothenberg

    Profile

    Composer/Performer Ned Rothenberg has been a central fixture in the ‘downtown’ New York scene for over a generation.  He plays saxophone, clarinets and the japanese shakuhachi.
    Rothenberg has lead a range of groups including Sync, Power Lines, Double Band and Inner Diaspora but is also particularly known for his solo music, which he has presented for 40 years on 5 continents, documented in 8 albums of original works.
    His collaborators include John Zorn, Evan Parker, Sylvie Courvoisier, Sainkho Namtchylak, Marc Ribot, Jerome Harris, Samir Chatterjee and Hamid Drake.  He has worked as a sideperson with Steve NIeve, Sting, Marisa Monte, and Elvis Costello.
