Recent Updates: Visit our COVID-19 Community Guide for information about in-person teaching and learning this fall.

  • We look forward to being together again on campus this fall. Our first priority will continue to be the health and safety of our community.

As we prepare for our return to campus, The New School will require all students, faculty and staff to be fully vaccinated prior to the start of the fall semester (with the exception of those who receive approved medical or religious exemptions). This policy will cover all individuals who intend to be on our New York City campus for any period of time. Proof of vaccination or exemption status and testing results will be linked to your New School ID card and allow you access to campus facilities.

We encourage all members of our community to respect each other’s privacy and refrain from asking about any individual’s vaccination status.

    Students

To help ensure a safe and healthy learning environment, students must be vaccinated in order to access campus facilities during the 2021-2022 academic year. Students are required to submit their vaccine record to Student Health Services (SHS) portal by following these instructions

Please do not email your record to Student Health Services. If you previously emailed your vaccine record to SHS, it will not be processed. It will only be reviewed and processed once you have uploaded it to the portal.

We strongly encourage international students who have access to vaccines approved in their home countries to get vaccinated as quickly as they can. Following CDC guidance, vaccines authorized by the US FDA or for emergency use by WHO will be accepted by The New School.

    Exemptions

Continuing students (except for those returning from leave) who wish to request an exemption to the vaccine requirement for medical or religious reasons must submit their documentation to SHS by following these instructions.

International students and domestic students from abroad who are not able to be fully vaccinated before returning to campus for reasons beyond their control will be accommodated. These students will be required to follow the protocol outlined in the COVID-19 Vaccine Submission FAQ in order to access campus facilities.

In order to maintain a high level of health and safety for the entire community, students who are unvaccinated will need to follow additional safety protocols, which include more frequent testing and increased masking requirements.
