Access to Campus

All students, faculty, and staff must be up-to-date with their vaccinations, including a booster dose as soon as they are eligible (with the exception of those who receive approved medical or religious exemptions). You must either be boosted or have received an exemption from The New School to comply with the university’s vaccination policy.

Testing is not required for building access for those in compliance with the university’s vaccination policy. Free PCR tests continue to be available on campus at Arnhold Hall, located at 55 W. 13th Street.

Individuals with approved vaccination exemptions are no longer required to test for building access. 

Proof of vaccination or exemption status will be linked to your New School ID card and allow you access to campus facilities. Community members should submit their vaccination record via shsportal.newschool.edu.

The New School Libraries spaces are open. Check our website for Hours. 

Libraries staff, virtual services via chat and Ask Us, and access to online content remains available. 

We also offer: 

• In-person book pick ups and returns
• Home delivery and shipping labels for returns
• Quiet study areas
• Bookable rooms
• Physical reserves (faculty, please see the Reserves Letter)
• Scanning services
• Desktop computers
• Laptops for checkout (FAQ)
• Printers and scanners (printing services also provided by IT)

At this time, general campus access is available to all Parsons students, and most Making Center spaces are open, with adjusted availability. Making Center orientations are required for access.

The university offers an array of technologies to support collaborative, confidential meetings both on-site and remotely.

If you do meet in-person:

• Reserve space for your meeting that is appropriate for the number of attendees.

• Consistent with our commitment to principles of community safety and respect, attendance at events including food and beverages cannot be required. 

• Share resources or material electronically before, during, and after the event to avoid items being passed hand-to-hand.

Guest and Visitor Access

We are pleased to welcome guests and visitors—including guest speakers, event guests, prospective students and families for campus tours, vendors, and friends—to campus.

Guests and visitors must provide one of the following: proof of up-to-date vaccination, including a booster when eligible; a negative result from a PCR test taken within three days before arrival; or a negative result from a rapid test taken the same day.

The following protocols will be in place to ensure a safe and healthy experience for everyone. 

• Wearing a mask is strongly recommended but not required on campus.
• The New School has partnered with CLEAR to utilize Health Pass, an online tool that safely and simply verifies proof of COVID-19 vaccination and testing. To get started, download the CLEAR app and enroll for free: https://clear.app.link/TheNewSchool.
• For the most efficient entry possible, all guests should create a free CLEAR account and complete the checklist for entry requirements.

How to complete your Health Pass 

1. Download the CLEAR app and tap the white Health Pass tile
2. Tap ‘Events’’ and select The New School tile under ‘Venues’
3. Enroll with your government issued ID or if you are already a CLEAR member, verify your identity with a quick selfie
4. Follow the prompts to verify your proof of vaccination and booster dosage
5. Accept the Know Before You Go
6. Before you arrive, reopen the Health Pass tile and produce your pass. Green is good to go! Be ready to show security for faster entry.

Admissions Visitors and Campus Tours
If you are a prospective student or parent or family member of a prospective student visiting the university and its campus or attending an admissions event, please go to the Welcome Center at 72 Fifth Avenue, present proof of vaccination and booster, receive a clearance pass, and check in with the Admission team. Vendors for Events
If you are an external vendor, such as a videographer, photographer, ASL interpreter, or other external support staff, please go to the Welcome Center at 72 Fifth Avenue, present proof of vaccination and booster, receive a clearance pass, and then proceed to the location of your job. All guest passes can be reused through the end of the semester.
