    Searching for an apartment or a short-term housing option in NYC and unsure about where to begin? We've provided some tips and resources to help you with this process. On this page you will find some helpful links that will help you begin your search and know what to avoid, maps of neighborhoods near The New School, and resources that will help you find a roommate or an apartment.

    Resources and Tips

    When searching for an apartment, start with an idea of what you are able to spend and create a budget that includes rent, utilities, transportation, food, and any other expenses you may have. Next, identify what you will need in order to qualify to rent, rent to buy, or buy an apartment. Most landlords will require a guarantor when you sign a lease.

    One of the best ways to gather information on rentals is to connect with other New School students who are also searching or currently have an open space in their apartment. Posting to your Facebook groups or in The Village Classifieds (found on the Academics tab on my.newschool.edu) can be helpful in finding rooms for rent or others who are looking for roommates.
