    Barbara Bordnick

    Profile

    The internationally renowned portrait and fashion photographer, Barbara Bordnick, began her career in Copenhagen and Paris before returning to open a studio in New York in 1969 where her photography in HARPER'S BAZAAR began drawing acclaim.Over the past thirty-nine years she has received innumerable honors and awards for her film and print work, including Clios for film and print, Art Directors Awards, and the Missouri School of Journalism Award.Bordnick's works are in the permanent collections of the International Center of Photography, the Gilman Paper Collection, the Polaroid Collection, George Eastman House, the Portland Museum of Artand the Hallmark Museum for Contemporary Photography. Her book SEARCHINGS, Secret Landscapes of Flowers was published in the spring of 2003 to rave reviews, followed by Volumes II and III and accompanied by a traveling exhibition of her photographs. Ms. Bordnick served three terms as the president of the Advertising Photographers of New York, and was the first woman president of the American Society of Media Photographers. On May 24, 2006 she was awarded the International Photographic Council's Leadership Award at the United Nations.Bordnick has recently been honored with a United States postage stamp using her portrait of E.Y. Harburg the late, great, American lyricist, issued by the United States Postal Service.In addition to her photography, Bordnick is a much-sought-after lecturer.
