In this four-year BFA program, you explore the dynamic intersections of art, design, and technology. You become a design thinker and practitioner through creative work that is grounded in a social and political context. You learn to use art and design tools with a critical, interpretive, and transformative perspective. Multimedia studio projects involve ideation, research, writing, and prototyping. Whether in studio or liberal arts courses, you contribute to emerging areas of art and technology through innovative approaches.
The BFA in Art, Media, and Technology (AMT) is only offered on the Parsons Paris campus and benefits from access to unique Parisian cultural institutions and resources. In year three, you may spend a semester or a year in a related major at Parsons’ New York campus or at partner institutions around the world.
The BFA Art, Media, and Technology program connects established zones of creative practice and allows you to experiment and go beyond traditional disciplines. You develop strong skills in storytelling and creative expression and examine human participation
across art media, technology, and design. You also study a range of artistic communication networks – both online and offline – and question the ethical use of existing and future technologies in art.
After completing a cross-disciplinary first year, you develop a substantial understanding of narrative forms and techniques across variable media. In year three, you focus on how your creative expression is received through an analysis of audience, participation,
and human response. In the final year, you complete a focused thesis that integrates research, making, and writing. A new course called Pro Launch Studio also prepares future graduates for professional practice.
Alongside the Art, Media, and Technology curriculum, you can minor in Creative Entrepreneurship, and students are strongly encouraged to do internships. Parsons Paris offers French language courses to help students develop their conversational skills
often needed for local internships and post-graduation opportunities. Program faculty come from a wide array of art and design disciplines and are professional practitioners in globally recognized institutions, artistic communities, and creative industries.
Paris is an inspiring city, known for its political engagement and historical resources. Venues such as the Palais de Tokyo, the Gaité Lyrique, the Centre Georges Pompidou, the Centquatre, and the Maison Européenne de la Photographie provide exposure to
international artist talks, performances, and exhibitions. From Paris you can also easily travel to major European cities to explore their rich contemporary and historical art and design offerings.
Art, Media, and Technology BFA students develop a heightened awareness of the critical and technical tools needed to engage with contemporary society. Graduates of this program are well-rounded and prepared for a variety of creative endeavors and careers
in intermedia art (sound, video, installation, performance), motion graphics, communication design and related fields.
The Bachelor of Fine Arts degree is awarded for completion of 120 credits as designated by the program. A maximum of 60 credits may be transferred from another institution. Students must maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA and fulfill all requirements
in a timely manner.
