Lynne Rogers, Edward Aldwell Professor of the Techniques of Music, joined the Mannes faculty in fall 2014. Her research on post-tonal music, with an emphasis on Stravinsky studies, has been supported by grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities, Paul Sacher Foundation, and Oberlin College. Her work appears in The Cambridge Stravinsky Encyclopedia, Stravinsky in Context, and The Rite of Spring at 100, as well as in Journal of the Royal Musical Association, Music Theory Spectrum, Perspectives of New Music, and other journals. Long interested in music-theory pedagogy, she is the author of articles in Journal of Music Theory Pedagogy and The Norton Guide to Teaching Music Theory, and a co-author of Writing in Music: A Brief Guide (Oxford University Press, 2021). Prof. Rogers also served as co-editor for Selected Essays from the Fourth International Schenker Symposium. Her review in Notes won the Eva Judd O’Meara award from the Music Library Association. Prof. Rogers regularly presents papers in the United States and abroad at meetings of scholarly societies and as an invited speaker, including a visiting appointment as Endowed Chair in Music at The University of Alabama, invited lectures and workshops at Brazilian universities, and a keynote lecture at China Conservatory in Beijing. Before coming to Mannes, Prof. Rogers taught at William Paterson University, from which she received the Faculty Excellence Award for Teaching, Oberlin Conservatory, and The University of Texas at Austin. Prof. Rogers is a former President of the Society for Music Theory. She received her Ph.D. in Music from Princeton University.
