    Profile

Dr. Laura Mount, violist, was awarded a DMA from The Juilliard School. She was taught by legendary viola pedagogues William Lincer, Karen Tuttle, Leonard Mogill, and Francis Tursi. Dr. Mount has performed extensively throughout the U.S., Europe and Asia. She plays frequently with orchestras in the tri-state area including the Greenwich Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Lumos (formally Stamford Symphony), Orchestra Long Island (formally Long Island Philharmonic), and the Discovery Orchestra. She has participated regularly in music festivals including Aspen, Round Top Festival, Spoleto, and Yellow Barn. As a master teacher with the non-profit organization, Love Violin, USA, Dr. Mount helps historically underrepresented students in music gain access to high-level training and performance education. She is also the viola coach for Orchestra Long Island and, in that role, prepares and coordinates educational programs in public schools throughout the tri-state area, identifying and finding opportunities for talented young musicians.   Dr. Mount has taught at Hunter College High School, Hunter College, and Queens College and is a founding member of 4Strings Music Festival, where she is currently an artist-faculty member. Dr. Mount has given master classes at Hartt School of Music, Interlochen, Mannes Prep, Brooklyn Tech High School, Uniondale High School, Jericho High School, Sachem High School, LaGuardia High School, 4Strings Music Festival, and Point Counterpoint Camp.   Since 1994, Dr. Mount has been on the violin, viola and chamber music faculty of the Mannes Prep.   https://www.lianalauramount.com/
